Healthy Alternative: Salty Snack

This is one of my favourite snacks. They’re easy to make, packed with protein & healthy fats while also being low carb, high fibre and a great source magnesium & zinc. At only 160 calories, this recipe will curb any cravings and hold you off until your next meal.


Add seeds to a frying pan over medium heat until you hear them start to pop. Stir them around and turn off heat. Add coconut oil & sea salt (or Herbamare) and let cool. Depending on how many you make, store them in the fridge to keep them fresher longer, as the omega-3 fats are preserved best when cold.

You can eat these on their own, add them to salads, baked goods, oatmeals, soups, balance bowls, and much more. They really are the perfect seed.

It’s important to watch your serving size when eating nuts and seeds. A small portion is as beneficial and nutrient dense as they are calorie dense, since they contain a lot of healthy fats. It’s easy to overdue it and eat your day in calories with nuts & seeds, so make sure you portion each serving to only 1/4 – 1/2 cup!
